By observing the cottagers the monster is getting understanding and through this the beast is feeling unfortunate and mad at the same time. He is feeling sad and angry due to the fact that he understands that he is a different animal and will not be accepted by the cottagers. The monster says that “I can not describe to you the misery that these reflections inflicted upon me. I tried to eliminate them, but sadness just increased with understanding” (85 ). The monster is stating that by getting understanding his sadness and depressions has only increased. Despite the fact that the beast realizes that it’s dangerous and his pain will keep increasing, he does not stop pursuing understanding.

The monster continues to pursue understanding by choosing to get in to the cottage in order to talk to the old man. He bravely gets in to the home and gets scared. The old guy was blind so he did not see the beast. In the mean time Felix among the cottagers can be found in to the home and beat the beast in anger. Felix beating the beast is dangerous and puts his life in danger. The monster comments “cursed, cursed creator! Why did I live?” (97 ). The monster is ill of his life and put his life in risk as he pursued understanding.

Moreover, the monster’s pursuit of knowledge caused him to want something that he might never ever have in his life, a buddy. The beast got declined by Frankenstein which made him vicious and harmful. The beast killed Frankenstein’s friends and household and that made Frankenstein dislike him. Then Frankenstein says “Begone! I do break my promise; never ever will I produce another like yourself, equal in deformity and wickedness”. (122) Frankenstein broke his promise of making the beast a buddy. In general, the idea of wanting a buddy led the beast to torments and sadness.

Through the pursuit of understanding the monster desired a buddy however he can never have one. Furthermore, pursuit of knowledge cause him devoting suicide. By achieving the understanding of wanting a buddy the monster required himself to be hated by Frankenstein. After eliminating much of Frankenstein’s relative Frankenstein decides to take revenge on the monster.
