Animal Farm Analysis Essay
The Catastrophe Of Oppression “Amongst those who do not like injustice are many who like to oppress”. These are the words that rolled off the French General Napoleon Bonaparte’s tongue. This connects to Animal Farm since all of the stock do not like injustice but they have a bunch of oppressors among them. The pigs manage the farm animals in every method possible and honestly they are sick and fed up with it. Animal Farm by George Orwell reveals that oppression is at the heart of so much grief in life, and that the abuse of power is at the heart of injustice.
Napoleons violence and Squealers mind-control are the 2 types of power and abuse that keep the bad animals oppressed. Napoleon was violent in many methods. First of all, he used his power to raise an army of canines to become mean and violent similar to him. Napoleon had the pets under his wing; they would do whatever he informed them to do. For example, Napoleon was trying to get the animals to confess to working with snowball. When and if they did admit to this he would command the pet dogs to eliminate them. This is among many examples of how Napoleon uses his power to abuse the stock.
Napoleon disliked Snowball; they disagreed on whatever so he definitely didn’t desire any of his stock working with his opponent. That’s not all Napoleon had the pet dogs, or simply put his “slaves” do. Another example of violence is when Napoleon commanded the dogs to chase Snowball off of the farm. He didn’t like the idea of sharing the power with Snowball; he desired the power all to himself! He attempted to manage everyone through violence and fear. As an outcome of this power struggle he abused not only the farm animals but likewise the canines by attempting to manage them.
Napoleon verbally, psychologically and physically mistreated everybody in his path. Squealer is also guilty of abusing his power. Squealer’s option of abuse is mind control. He is capable of making a bad circumstance seem as if it were implied to be. Like the time when the farm animals got suspicious when the pigs started sleeping in beds. Everybody on the farm knows that oversleeping bed goes against the rule that states, “No animal will oversleep a bed” When the animals built up the guts to ask the pigs what was going on, the pigs merely stated “A bed simply means a place to oversleep.
The rule was against sheets, which are a human invention. We have eliminated the sheets from the farmhouse beds, and sleep between blankets. You would not have us too tired to carry out our tasks? Certainly none of you wants to see Jones back? “(Orwell67). This is an example of slippery slope due to the fact that in other words Squealer is informing the animals that if the pigs aren’t allowed to oversleep beds then they will not be able to do there duties due to the fact that they will not get a great night sleep and if they cant do their responsibilities then eventually Jones will return. Squealer does things like this all of the time.
He is known for verbally abusing the farm animals by controlling their minds. This all leads up to one thing, injustice. Oppression is brought on by the abuse of power. Napoleon wished to be in control of whatever and everybody because he was a very selfish and controlling pig. His need to be this way caused extreme injustice on the farm. The stock were all unhappy and seemed like there was no way out. Anytime they confronted the pigs, they were always given some reason or reason things were not the method they were expected to be. Fighter was the hardest worker on the farm, yet he got treated the most unfair.
He might not have actually been the most smart of the animals however he sure was strong and worked more than any of the others. One day, Boxer collapsed while pulling stone for the windmill. The pigs said that he would be required to a health center. When a cart got here to choose Fighter up the farm animals got suspicious due to the fact that the cart was sent out from the slaughterhouse. Squealer quickly denounced the rumor stating that the health center had actually purchased the cart from the slaughterhouse and never ever painted over the writing. The animals were alleviated after hearing the “excellent news” till squealer revealed that Boxer had actually passed away in the health center. I will work harder” and “Napoleon is always best”(Orwell 39). were Boxers two mottos. Fighter thought of Napoleon as a role model and all Napoleon idea of Fighter as, was among his lots of employees. Boxer enjoyed Napoleon. It is extremely sad that he was never ever valued or loved in return by Napoleon. A minimum of Boxer will always be in the hearts of the stock due to the fact that he was really enjoyed by them. This was a fantastic and unnecessary loss, which triggered much grief to the farm animals. This clearly reveals that oppression can cause excellent grief. The abuse of power is the reason for great grief for many individuals all around the world.
The Novella Animal Farm by George Orwell proves this in the life of the stock. Napoleon caused a great deal of distress and sorrow to the stock, which cause fantastic injustice on the farm. In order to keep his power, Napoleon used violence to get his method. He used Squealer to play mind games on the animals to keep his power and to deceive them into thinking his lies. Oppression is a frustrating reality that impacted the farm animals and continues to impact the lives of many individuals today. Woks Cited Orwell, George. Animal Farm.
