Essay Animal Farm (Book)

Question: Compare and contrast Napoleon and Snowball. What techniques did they utilize in their struggle of power?

Napoleon is a large boar at the farm. He is very little of a talker, however he ‘has a reputation of getting his own method’. In the book he is an allegory of Joseph Stalin, the leader of the animal disobedience, because he frequently changes the policy and his actions, his secret activities, his purposefully betrayal and manipulation of the animals and his usage of the worry of the animals to his advantages.

To take control of the farm, he utilizes the canines on the farm to manage the rest of the animals. After driving snowball away, Napoleon gets complete power by utilizing the pigs as his right hand and by utilizing among them, Squealer, for his propaganda. Also he threatens the animals so that they will not go against him. When the time goes by, he alters the rules for his advantage and at the end all the pigs discovered to stroll straight and started to act similar to the humans versus whom they originally revolted.

Napoleon consumes of the fine porcelain from Mr Jones, wears his clothing and smokes his pipe. After a while he only give commands and shows himself just when it is necessary. Ultimately he fills in Mr Jones as a totalitarian at the Farm. Snowball is Napoleon’s competitor and initial head of the farm when Mr Jones was chased away. He is more smart then Napoleon and is an excellent speaker. In the book he is an allegory of Leon Trosky, but also some parts of Vladimir Lenin.

In the book he wins over the majority of the animals and gains their trust by leading really effective very first harvest. Unfortunately he is eliminated of the farm by Napoleon. After he was repelled, Napoleon speaks after his back and say that he was evil, corrupt and even that he covertly screwed up the animals efforts, for instance by ruining the windmill, to enhance the farm. All that Snowball wanted was to assist the animals to get their paradise. Compare and Contrast

In the book, Snowball uses his ideas, speeches and his success in arguments to dominate the other animals to his side. Napoleon, on the other hand, is getting the attention of the animals by using manipulation and deal-making. Within the political system, Snowball seems to work within it, why Napoleon get around it. Napoleon understands the function of force, and what use it has in political control. This is obvious by his use of the pets by sending out Snowball far from the farm.

Snowball does refrain from doing anything about the bullying strategies from Napoleon. He not does anything to prevent the growing of power in the hands of the pigs, nor does he stop the unequal dividing of the items in the pigs their favor. Napoleon seems to have an effective, egocentric desires, while Snowball appears to consider himself as a genius who need to be the one to assist the farm towards success. Neither one of the two has the exact same desires as the animals at the farm therefore neither represents the socialist ideals of Animal Farm.
