IEven as I gathered academic awards at High School and college, including the ‘Who’s Who Among Students’ Award, I was absolutely clear on my interests and long-term career goals. My choice of Criminal Justice as my undergraduate major was taken without any hesitation, although I did regret the end of my High School Biology classes – Biology is my favorite subject at that time. I thoroughly enjoyed the intellectual stimulation of my courses in Criminal Justice during my years as an undergraduate at Lynn University, and my decision to adhere to the field of Criminal Justice has been reinforced several times.

In perfect agreement with my interests, I went on to pursue a professional career in Criminal Justice. My ongoing, six-year stint as a Criminal Investigator at the Public Defender Service at Washington D.C. is exciting and deeply satisfying work. It gives me the opportunity to apply the theoretical know-how I gained at Lynn University to the practical, working world of criminal investigation. I have definitely found my life’s calling. I have matured from the girl, who was enamored of the largely fictionalized glamour of criminal justice, to the practical investigator who is aware of the deeper nuances and the ramifications of the world of law enforcement and justice.

Over the course of my career as an investigator, I have worked in the Parole Division, Civil Division, Special Litigation Division and the Trial Division, gaining valuable first-hand experience and learning about the various facets of a criminal investigation.
